Terms of Service

Limited 7-day trial, when offered in Account

Eligible accounts may begin one card-required free trial when its separate enrollment is open, with 30 confirmed trial starts; abandoned checkout reservations expire. No charge is made for the free period. After 7 days, US$25 per month before tax is collected automatically unless you cancel before the trial ends. Local currency, tax-inclusive total and renewal date are shown in Paddle Checkout. A normal membership checkout without this specific trial takes its first payment immediately.

The entire trial allows up to 25 AI actions, 30 audio points and 9 selected fixed lessons. AI, audio and PDF availability also depend on the trial budget and service safeguards. AI may stop before 25 actions; fixed lessons continue. These limits do not reset daily. From day 6, one requested PDF is subject to remaining allowance, its automated content check and free rendering capacity. These limits never add charges during the free period. Cancellation stops renewal; ordinary trial learning remains available until the original end. After that, learning requires confirmed payment. Saved items remain available to read, export and remove. Repeated or suspicious registrations may be refused. Unknown checkout outcomes are reconciled rather than creating another purchase. PDF and proprietary lesson exports are for personal study; the existing dictionary licenses continue to apply.

These terms describe the Junichiro Japanese self-study web application, operated under the Junichiro Japanese brand in Japan. Contact: contact@junichirojapanese.com.

The service

The membership provides personal access to Japanese learning software, AI-assisted practice, sentence exploration and saved expressions. It does not include live teaching, human tutoring or voice conversation. AI-generated questions, explanations and assessments may contain errors, omissions or inappropriate content. Junichiro AI is an automated learning assistant. We work to improve quality, but do not promise that every output is accurate or complete, or guarantee exam results or uninterrupted availability. Check important points against a reliable learning reference. These limitations do not remove your mandatory consumer rights or remedies for a defective service.

Daily AI allowance

AI use is limited to 50 new AI generations per member per day, resetting at midnight Japan time (UTC+9), with no carryover. Each successfully completed generation action counts once, including a practice set, new AI assessment or new explanation. Internal processing calls are counted separately for costs. Dictionary lookup, word splitting, saved items, cached explanations and exercises that do not call AI do not consume this allowance. Failed generations return the allowance, but repeated failures or simultaneous requests may temporarily pause AI to protect the service. The app shows your remaining allowance and next reset. Reaching the allowance does not stop access to non-AI learning features.

AI period limits and availability

The daily limit is a maximum, not a promise of 50 available AI actions every day. Personal and service-wide rolling 30-day cost limits also apply, including during ordinary use. AI may pause before the daily limit; longer requests use more of the period allowance. Daily reset does not reset these period limits. Access resumes when enough earlier usage leaves the rolling window, or when a service funding or technical issue is resolved. Fixed lessons, saved items and other non-AI features remain available. Contact support if a pause prevents you from using the service as described; cancellation and refund rights still apply.

Your account and use

Use your own Google account, protect access to it, and do not share a paid account. Do not submit unlawful content, other people’s confidential information, or material you have no right to use. Automated bulk generation, resale of access and attempts to bypass security or usage safeguards are prohibited. Access may be restricted to address abuse or security problems.

Eligibility

You must meet the minimum age for a Google account where you live. If you are under the age of majority in your country, use the service only with the consent of a parent or guardian, who is responsible for the purchase.

Suspension and ending access

We may suspend or end an account that seriously or repeatedly breaches these terms, for example by sharing or reselling access, bulk automated use or attacks on the service. Unless immediate action is needed to protect other learners or the service, we will first tell you what is wrong and give you a chance to fix it. You can cancel at any time. If we end your access when you have not breached these terms, we will refund the unused part of your current paid period.

Price, renewal and cancellation

The membership is US$25 per month before tax. Before any purchase, checkout shows the actual currency, total and renewal terms. Membership renews monthly unless canceled. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the paid period. Payments through Paddle are also subject to Paddle’s Buyer Terms. Refunds are described on our refund page.

Materials and exports

Junichiro Japanese learning materials and exports are for your personal study. Do not redistribute, resell or publicly publish our materials without permission. Do not copy, download or collect lessons, practice questions, answers or explanations in bulk, including with scripts, scraping tools or other automated requests. If practice questions are opened at an unusually fast pace, they may pause for a while; your saved progress is not affected. Exported collections contain text, not lesson audio. Your own original content remains yours. Third-party dictionary material remains subject to its own attribution and open license; these personal-study restrictions do not replace the rights granted by those licenses. Dictionary credits are available in the app.

Support scope

We accept questions about account access, billing, cancellation, privacy and technical problems. The subscription does not include personal explanations of AI answers, individual grammar advice, proofreading or human marking. Reports of incorrect or inappropriate AI output are welcome as product feedback, but we do not promise an individual educational reply, a particular correction or a resolution date. This does not restrict complaints or remedies concerning a defective purchased service.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example to reflect changes in law, security, features or pricing. The date at the top of this page shows the current version, and the app records which version you accepted. Changes that are not adverse to members, such as clarifications or new optional features, take effect when published. For a material change that is adverse to members, including any price increase, we will notify members at least 30 days before it takes effect, by email to the address associated with your membership purchase and in the app, stating what will change and from when. Where the law requires your consent, we will ask for it. If you do not agree, you may cancel before the change takes effect; there is no cancellation fee, and your access continues until the end of the period you have paid for.

Price changes

A new price for an existing membership applies only from a renewal date after the notice period, never to a period you have already paid for. Paddle, as reseller and merchant of record, may also notify you and ask for your consent under its Buyer Terms. Taxes and currency conversion can change your total independently of our price. A price decrease may apply from the next renewal without advance notice.

If we discontinue the service

If we decide to discontinue the app, we will give members at least 30 days’ notice by email and in the app, stop future renewals, and refund the unused part of any paid period that extends beyond the closing date. You can export your saved collection before the service closes.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for damage caused by our intent or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law. For damage caused by our ordinary (slight) negligence, our total liability is limited to the membership fees you paid in the 12 months before the event.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence. Please contact us first so that we can try to resolve any problem. The Tokyo District Court has jurisdiction as the court of first instance, but you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence where consumer law allows it.

Service problems

Contact us if the service is unavailable or materially different from its description. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights. Read our privacy policy for data handling.

Pronunciation

Microsoft-generated Japanese audio shares 100 audio points per member per day, resetting at midnight Japan time (UTC+9), with no carryover. A new word of up to 20 Japanese characters uses 1 point. Explore passages of up to 800 characters use 1 point per 40 billable characters, rounded up: kanji count twice; spaces, punctuation and escaped special characters count too. Points depend on length, not on the number of plays. The app shows the point estimate before you play. Replaying audio still cached on the same device uses 0 points (up to 30 minutes while the app stays open); closing or reloading the app may require a new generation. Words and passages share the same allowance. Kana character sounds use prepared Microsoft Azure recordings and can be replayed without audio points, including after reloading or reaching the daily allowance. Newly generated kana word audio shares the daily 100 audio points: new audio uses 1 point, and cached replays use 0 points for up to 30 minutes. Kana phrase recordings use VOICEVOX:ずんだもん without audio points. No kana audio is generated automatically. Requests sent for generation count even if playback is interrupted or the result is uncertain. There are no automatic retries. This allowance is separate from the 50 daily new AI generations. Live pronunciation uses Microsoft voices only; the app does not use device voices. Synthetic pronunciation can contain errors.
