Privacy Policy

Junichiro Japanese operates this learning application. For privacy requests, contact contact@junichirojapanese.com. Create an account by signing in with Google. Payment is processed in the app after you log in.

Who is responsible

Junichiro Japanese (sole proprietor), TASUKI PRIME SANGENJAYA 3F-3, 4-18-15 Taishido, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo 154-0004, Japan, is responsible for the personal information handled in this app. The operator’s legal name is provided by email without delay on request. Contact: contact@junichirojapanese.com. Paddle, as merchant of record, is responsible for the payment information it collects under its own privacy notice.

Information used

Google sign-in provides an account identifier and verified email information to authenticate you. The app handles your learning preferences, practice responses, saved expressions and conversations to provide and restore your learning workspace. Subscription identifiers and payment status are used to check membership. Card details are entered into Paddle’s checkout and are not stored by this app.

Purposes of use

We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.

Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, we process account, learning and membership information to perform our contract with you; security, abuse prevention and essential notices on our legitimate interest in running a safe and reliable service; optional improvement sharing and expression sharing on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Account; and records we must keep to meet legal obligations.

Service providers

Cloudflare hosts the site, application and databases. Google handles sign-in. When you request an AI response, your message and relevant learning or recent conversation context are sent to OpenAI to generate that response. Paddle handles checkout, taxes, billing and payment-related information under its privacy notice. Providers may process information outside your country.

International transfers

We send your information only to these service providers, which process it for us: Cloudflare, Inc. (United States and its global network) for hosting and databases; OpenAI (United States) for AI responses, where requests are sent with response storage turned off, sharing of our data for model training is disabled in our account, and OpenAI keeps API data for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring; Microsoft Azure Speech (Japan East region) for pronunciation, which receives only the word or passage you choose to hear; and Google LLC (United States) for our business email when we reply to you or send essential notices. You also sign in directly with Google and pay directly through Paddle, each under its own privacy notice. We do not use any other service for your information: no analytics, advertising or tracking services. These countries may not protect personal information to the same level as your country. For Japan, we use providers whose data-protection terms establish systems meeting the standards of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information; on request we provide information about those measures. The Personal Information Protection Commission summarises foreign systems at ppc.go.jp. For the EEA, UK and Switzerland, transfers rely on the providers’ safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses where they apply.

Retention and controls

Saved words, sentences and kanji have no automatic expiry while your account remains available: you can remove them yourself. Practice records are available for 180 days; new conversations are retained for 30 days. Expired data is removed through bounded cleanup operations, which may not run at the exact expiry time. The app does not save original recordings. Generated passage audio is kept only in your open app, for up to 30 minutes, so that replays do not need a new generation; it is discarded when it expires or when the app is closed or reloaded. It is not added to saved collections or exports.

Account provides learning-data export and deletion controls. Clearing learning data does not cancel a subscription or delete billing records held by Paddle. Contact us for account and privacy requests, including access, correction or deletion. Payment providers may retain records to meet their legal obligations.

Optional improvement sharing

Participation is off by default and is not required to use the app. If you turn it on in Account, subsequent AI interactions (your submitted question or task and the AI response, including task context attached to that interaction) may be read by Junichiro to investigate incorrect explanations, assessments and technical problems. Earlier learning history is not retrospectively collected. You may instead send an individual report after reviewing the exact text you choose to share. We do not attach other history to that report.

Improvement copies are available for review for 30 days; expired records are excluded from review and removed during the next cleanup operation. Turning optional sharing off deletes those optional copies from the active database. Account also lets you delete all your improvement reports. Your saved collection is separate. These copies are not published as teaching material or used by us to train a model. Shared text may still contain personal information: please remove private details. Operator access is restricted and recorded. Provider backups and legally required records are subject to separate retention arrangements.

Cookies and security

The app uses necessary session cookies for sign-in and security. This information site includes no advertising trackers or marketing forms. Hosting services process technical request information to deliver and protect the site. Do not include passwords, payment details or other sensitive information in learning prompts.

Pronunciation audio

When you request Microsoft pronunciation, only the selected word, reading or passage is sent from our server to Microsoft Azure Speech in Japan East. We do not attach your account identifier or unselected surrounding text. Passage audio is kept only in temporary device memory for up to 30 minutes while the app stays open. Where server word caching is enabled, word audio is privately reusable for up to 30 minutes. Audio is not saved to your collection or exports. Per-account daily point and character counters enforce limits without recording the input text.

Reusable learning results

Sentence explanations and small word-split corrections are stored privately for up to 30 days to restore your work and avoid repeated generation. Pasted text is not automatically published or made available in operator knowledge review. Only content verified against app-provided materials is eligible for shared contextual caching. Separately, you may choose to share the exact expression and split shown in the correction editor for owner review and approved reuse for everyone. This expression-only sharing is off by default, separate from AI-report consent, and excludes the rest of your document. Do not include names or private details. Language corrections and supplemental definitions become common product data only after owner review; AI output is not automatically a dictionary definition. Approved product knowledge remains independent of an individual learning history. Account learning-data deletion removes your private explanation cache and correction observations. Daily usage aggregates contain counts, not the original text, and are retained for up to 90 days. Expired data is excluded from use and removed by bounded scheduled cleanup.

Optional Weekly Study Pack email

Weekly Study Pack email is off by default. If you explicitly opt in, we ask Google to verify your email again using the existing sign-in permissions and store that verified address only as a delivery destination for one Weekly Study Pack email each week. The email is not your primary account identity, is not taken from Paddle and is not used for marketing. We record the consent time, notice version and delivery state for this purpose. You can turn delivery off in Account; this immediately removes the delivery address. Clearing your learning data also removes it. You can request account deletion through the contact above. Google access, refresh and ID tokens are not retained for this feature. Resend processes the delivery address and transactional email to deliver this optional link. The PDF remains in your private learning account; an email links back to the app rather than attaching your learning records.

Essential service notices

If you have a membership, we may obtain the email address associated with your purchase from Paddle solely to send essential service notices, such as advance notice of changes to our terms, these policies or prices, or important security or billing information. These notices are not marketing, and the address is not added to your learning account. The recipient list is taken from Paddle when a notice is sent and is not kept in the app. We send these notices from our business email account, which is provided by Google. Changes are also shown in the app.

Your rights and requests

You can ask us to disclose, correct, add to or delete the personal information we hold about you, to stop using it or providing it to third parties, and to disclose records of any provision to third parties, as allowed by Japanese law. Where the GDPR applies you also have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, and to withdraw consent at any time. Many requests can be completed directly in Account through export and deletion. Otherwise, email contact@junichirojapanese.com; we will verify your identity in a way suited to the request, for example by confirming details of your account or purchase. There is no fee. We reply within 30 days or tell you if more time is needed as the law allows. You can also complain to a supervisory authority: in Japan, the Personal Information Protection Commission; in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, the authority where you live or work.

Security measures

We take measures suited to a small service. Organisational: the operator is responsible for personal information, is the only person with administrative access, and reviews this policy when the service changes. Personnel: the operator follows the handling rules in this policy. Physical and access: the operator’s devices and accounts used to run the service are protected with passkeys and a hardware security key. Technical: connections are encrypted (HTTPS); account identifiers are stored as one-way hashes; Google access, refresh and ID tokens are not kept; secret keys are held only in the hosting provider’s protected settings; review of shared reports inside the app is limited to the operator and recorded; data is kept only for the periods described above. External environment: because providers process information in other countries, we check those countries’ privacy systems before relying on them.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 13 or under the minimum age for a Google account where they live. Minors should use it only with the consent of a parent or guardian.
